Download Speed Slow but Upload Ia Fast Cellphone

  • #ane
Hi guys I accept a strange outcome. My modem is zyxel. I have 16 mbps download speed and 1 mbps upload speed. Everything is fine when I apply figurer. But while using phone and doing a speed exam upload speed is almost nil -0,02 mbps-. It is same in my mother's galaxy s4. Mine is HTC m9. What practice you suggest? Sometimes I tin't fifty-fifty send a bulletin in whatsapp.

Well, it could be a massive and obscure technical issue, it could be that the phones have one version of 802.11 and the router and computer have another. The VPN fix seems to suggest the quondam, though. If your modem/router is rented from your Internet access provider, I'd ask them to replace it, and explain the problem to them fully. If not, I'd endeavor wiring a WAP to it and connecting phones to the WAP, but that'due south an expense.

EDIT: It just occurred to me that if you apply the phone to Internet through Wifi and it stinks, and through a VPN service and it's fine with the same exact WiFi access point, it'south simply barely conceivable that someone is poking at your network or stealing your bandwidth. Non likely that someone would bother for so long, though. I really don't know.

What sort of WiFi security do you lot accept set upward?

One affair to clarify. Is your phone connected to your wired Net by WiFi, or is information technology just using its data connectedness to the phone network? If the latter, that's why.

If y'all take a computer on WiFi, exercise a speed test with that and compare.

  • #iii
My phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi as my PC. I did a speed test on my PC and upload speed was i mpbs. Did the same speed examination with my phone upload speed was 0.02 mbps.

This strongly suggests a trouble with the telephone. Can you endeavor it on a friend's WiFi, or a hotspot, to see if the phone itself is the issue?
  • #5
I take tried with other phones and result was the same. Besides other Wi-Fi'southward works only fine.

Let me get this straight.
ane) Other phones piece of work fine with your WiFi
2) The telephone in question works fine with other WiFi
3) So the only problem is using this telephone with this WiFi?

I've never heard of that 1 before. Sorry.

  • #seven
No not like that. Other phones don't work fine with this Wi-Fi. My Wi-Fi has a problem with phones.
The but problem is that phones have problem with this Wi-Fi.

This is pretty weird. I tried random vpn program with my phone. And my upload speed was just fine! I don't want to use vpn all the time. What do you suggest? Google dns didn't work.

Additionally, yous said that both your PC and Phone connected to your network via WiFi. How does the telephone react if the PC is turned off? If you're willing to exam, try this:

Turn off your Phone.
Turn off your PC.
Reset your WiFi router/modem by unplugging ability for 30 seconds.
Plug the WiFi router/modem back in.
One time it'southward reset, power on only the phone and test upload speeds.
If they appear as they should, then ability up the PC and retest.

You are not the just one:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/help/htc-m9-wifi-trouble-t3066461

Looks like it may exist an issue with the HTC One M9. Are you connecting to a 5GHz band or 2.4GHz ring? Air conditioning or N/G?Try both to see which works all-time. You really don't demand a 5GHz band as most net connections are non that fast.

Likewise y'all can attempt and disable a setting chosen "minimize battery use on WiFi" and see if the performance goes upwardly. Could be an issue with the mode HTCs power management handles the WiFI and might not exist kicking off when you are using it.

I tired to alter 801.11 thing but nothing happened. PC was off nigh all the time so it is not that. My phone has a little problem with Wi-Fis but it is not related. Sony, Samsung, HTC I tried all of these phones but the result was the aforementioned. Depression upload speed. I cheers guys for trying to assist BTW. Whatever more suggestions if you still have?

The modem sucked. Settle for that and exist glad that everything is working fine. Did your Internet service provider provide a new one, or did you take to lay out cash?

I had 2 modems costless in the house so I didn't have to pay for anything merely I will contact my ISP and ask for a replacement.

I wouldn't. If you lot accept a working modem in your dwelling house already, don't bother contacting your ISP. Unless you lot really feel like adding an extra price to your monthly neb each month.

They gave the modem free and then I won't accept to pay each month. It seems modems that they gave were pretty bad. BTW does updating modem firmware gear up the consequence?

They gave the modem costless so I won't have to pay each calendar month.
I highly dubiety that. I know that with Comcast, when purchased my own modem and returned theirs, I started seeing an "Own Equipment" line on my bill and a $ii.50 credit. I bought information technology off the bargain rack at RadioShack for $10 and used information technology for over 7 years. I'd yet be using it if Comcast didn't upgrade from DOCSIS 2.0 to 3.0.

Equally for updating the modem's firmware, that may resolve the effect. If yous already have another working one, information technology'due south not going to hurt trying to update the firmware on the non-functional one.

Well I live in Turkey and so I don't accept Comcast. I specifically asked my Internet access provider virtually pricing and they said information technology is free. Although I must use their internet for 2 years.
I will update information technology before long. Volition post if it fixes.

Firmware updates for modems are handled past the Internet service provider though. You lot will need to telephone call them to get a firmware update if at that place is i bachelor.
  • #21
I didn't know that. I found an upgrade from Google searches. I don't trust those guys at my Isp. They can't fix a thing at all.

Of grade not. I mean they use crap for modems and most people get their all in one router/modem that has no signal forcefulness and complain when they can't go coverage 300 feet away. Then they all happily pay $5 bucks a month for that crap over two years when they could take, for a flake more, bought a good modem and router that would blow the ISPs stuff out of the h2o.
  • #23
Updating the modem didn't fix the consequence either.
